CHECK OUT MY ART LESSONS FEATURING JOAN MIRO

Joan Miró was a famous Spanish artist born in 1893 who painted dream worlds with bright colors and playful shapes. His fun and unusual art looked a lot like drawings made by children. [1, 2, 3]
Fun Facts About Joan Miró
  • He started as an accountant: His parents wanted him to have a normal office job. He worked as an accountant clerk, but he did not like it at all and decided to follow his dream of becoming a full-time artist instead. [1, 2]
  • He painted while blindfolded: To help spark his imagination, his art teachers used to blindfold him. They placed mystery objects in his hands, and he had to draw them using only his sense of touch. [1]
  • He used everyday junk: Miró did not just use paint and brushes. Later in life, he made weird and wonderful sculptures using beach trash, old ropes, wire, and pieces of string.
