Kindergarten Art Projects Africa Themed Monkeys in the Jungle

 





The Kinders loved this mixed media project.  This project involved, drawing, coloring, cutting, placement, gluing.

Monkeys are smart, social animals split into two main groups (New World and Old World). Three fun facts about them include that some have tails like an extra hand, some monkeys use tools, and they vary wildly in size from tiny to big. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Super Tails
  • Extra hand: Some monkeys from Central and South America have "prehensile" tails.
  • Branch gripping: They can use their tail to grab tree branches and hang or balance. [1, 2, 3]
Smart Tool Users
  • Smart helpers: Capuchin monkeys use rocks to crack open hard nuts.
  • Bug fishing: They also use sticks to dig insects out of tree bark. [1, 2, 3]
Tiny and Giant Sizes
  • Tiny peanut: The pygmy marmoset is the smallest monkey. It is only about 6 inches long and weighs less than an apple.
  • Big mandrill: The mandrill is the largest monkey and has very colorful bright markings on its face.
