The Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence (Chapel of the Rosary), located on the French Riviera, is a small Catholic chapel built between 1947 and 1951. Henri Matisse spent four years meticulously planning every single element of the structure—including the architecture, stained glass, massive murals, furniture, and even the priests' vestments. Despite being baptized Catholic but long detached from the Church, the aging artist explicitly declared the chapel to be his absolute "masterpiece" and the culmination of his entire working life
