  • Named After a Bug: When the boss of the company first saw the scooter's round shape and thin middle, he said, "It looks like a wasp!" That is how it got the name Vespa. [1]
  • Made From Airplanes: The factory used to build war planes. When the war ended, they used airplane parts—like a special single-sided front wheel—to make the scooter smooth and easy to fix. [1, 2, 3]
  • Action Movie Star: A long time ago, the French military made a crazy version of the scooter that carried a giant anti-tank gun for paratroopers. Vespas also starred in dozens of famous movies like Roman Holiday
