A circle is a flat shape with no straight sides and no corners. Every point on its outer edge is the exact same distance from the middle point. It is also the only shape that has an endless number of symmetry lines.
- Unlike squares or triangles, a circle has zero corners.
- If you measure straight across a circle through the middle (the diameter) and wrap that length around the outside (the circumference), it fits a little more than 3 times.
- You can slice a circle right through its center in any direction, and both halves will always match perfectly.
- Because you can do this an endless number of times, a circle has infinite lines of symmetry
